Mangaluru: A orange alert sounded in State’s coastal belt as a low-pressure area has formed over the south-east and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area which may result in heavy rain in the region.
As per the India Meteorological Department heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over the coastal region from Tuesday, June 2 to Thursday, June 4.
The depression is likely to intensify into a deep depression—the third and fourth stages of any cyclone formation. Hence, the coastal region may receive rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm.
Dakshina Kannada district administration on Sunday, May 31 had asked people to be alert.
