Mangaluru: Orange alert sounded in coastal region; heavy rain likely

Mangaluru: The meteorological department has issued an orange alert in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada as these districts are likely to receive heavy rain along with thunder and lightning on July 2 and 3. The department has also warned fishermen against venturing into the sea.

As per the meteorological department, the air current on the sea surface is expected to cause heavy rainfall on the coastline of Karnataka as well as in the Western Ghats.

Meanwhile, the department has issued yellow alerts in districts like Haveri, Vijayapura, Chikkaballapur, Hassan, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, Kolar, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, etc.
