Mangaluru: Ajith Pai, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Delhi-based Delhivery, a provider of e-commerce logistics services, has been featured in the noted industry and finance magazine Forbes India.

He and his team have been quoted for their remarkable achievement in the supply of pharmaceutical essentials during the lockdown.

During the lockdown, the company’s 40,000 employees were busy delivering drugs and other items to the doorstep. Initially delivering goods locally, the company has since grown in demand across the country, even after the lockdown causing Delhivery’s logistic turnover to increase steadily, Forbes said in their July issue.

37-year-old Ajith Pai is the son of Annappa Pai and Nirmala Pai, owner of ACE Foods Private Limited and Modern Kitchen, Mangaluru.

After completing his education at the Canara Educational Institution, he earned an engineering degree at NIT, Suratkal.

After working at TCS, he got an MBA from IIM Bengaluru and worked in a company at Mumbai.

Ajith Pai’s classmates at IIM Bengaluru launched Delhivery in 2011. Ajit joined the company in 2013.

The company has now raised Rs 2,760 crore due to the business strategies of Ajith Pai and his team for seven years.

“As his parents, we are proud and delighted that Ajith is recognized for his achievements. From early childhood, he was a very enthusiastic boy,” Ajith’s father Annappa Pai said.

Speaking to Udayavani, Ajith reacted to the Forbes article, saying that “During to the lockdown, our company decided to adopt new technology in our delivery network to supply medicine and essential supplies. This made us help our customers to deliver essential items even when there is no traffic. I am proud of this.”
