Mangaluru: More than one thousand artists from the Dakshina Kannada district have submitted applications through the Seva Sindhu portal for the relief package announced by the State government.

The government had released a Rs 4.82 crore package for artists through the Department of Kannada and Culture providing Rs 3,000 each for approximately 16,095 people.

Many artists could not apply for the aid as the government, unlike last year, had not relaxed the age limit to avail it.

Additionally, Yakshagana artists from other States and magicians were excluded from the package.

Only 25 art forms were covered under the package.

According to officials at the Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy here said that they helped 650 artists to apply for aid online from their office.
