Mangaluru: The proposal to alter the schedule of the 16585/86 Bengaluru-Murudeshwar Express, which runs via Mangaluru, has drawn opposition from the passengers’ association in Mangaluru.

The Railway Board has reportedly instructed the Railways to halt the train at Murudeshwar Station for three hours for water refilling and coach maintenance. Preparations are reportedly underway to implement this change.

However, passengers in the region are concerned that stopping the train at Murudeshwar for an extended period might necessitate changes to its schedule. Additionally, there are fears that the train might be rerouted through Mangaluru Junction or Padil, bypassing Mangaluru Central.

In a letter to the General Manager of South Western Railways, Development Committee President Hanumanth Kamath has urged that the train’s schedule not be changed under any circumstances.
