Mangaluru: Pillion rider killed as car hits scooter

Mangaluru: A speeding car hit a scooter causing the death of a pillion rider at Kapikad on national highway 66 on Saturday, March 26.

The deceased has been identified as Emilda D’Souza a resident of Kapikad near Thokottu.

It is said that Emilda was walking home from the church in Thokkotu as it was her granddaughter’s birthday. On the way, she met her relative,  Flavy D’Souza who offered her a ride home.

When the duo reached Raj Caterers at Kapikad, a speeding car hit their scooter, Emilda who fell on the road was rushed to a nearby hospital but died on the way.

Flavy has been injured and is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

A case has been registered.
