Mangaluru: Saplings ready for distribution under various schemes

Mangaluru: The Forest Department has announced that about 1.25 lakhs saplings are ready to be distributed and planted under various schemes of the State government.

Speaking to reporters, Mangaluru Range Forest Officer, P Sridhar stated that of the 1.25 lakh saplings 10,000 will be planted in Mangaluru city under the Smart City Mission.

The more than 35 varieties of saplings will be available for Re 1 for the general public. Ten saplings can be bought at the price of Re 1 each, however, more for than 10 saplings will be given after applying for it with copies of RTC, Aadhar card and bank passbook.

More than 11,000 saplings will be given to voluntary organisations under the Hasiru Karnataka Yojana and about 2,500 saplings to schools under the Maguvigondu Mara Shalegondu Vana Yojana, Sridhar added.

An incentive of Rs 125 distributed over 3 years will be given to sapling purchasers under the Krishi Aranya Protsaha Yojana, Sridhar said.
