Mangaluru: Police arrest 7 persons in extortion case

Mangaluru: Kavoor Police have apprehended seven individuals involved in an extortion case that took place in the Bondel area of the city.

The accused have been identified as Surendra alias Pritam alias Preethu (29), Murali alias Murali Krishna (26), Kishore (32), Sushanth (23), Likhit (23), Tarun (20), and Akshata (24).

According to police, the accused had extorted money from a businessman from Kerala by employing a honeytrap.

Several of the accused have prior run-ins with the law. Surendra, the primary accused, has previously been involved in cases of assault registered at the Barke Police Station, as well as cases of fraud registered at the Mangaluru East and Kankanady Police Stations. Another accused, Kishore, has a previous record of assault registered at the Barke Police Station. Additionally, Sushanth has a case registered against him at the Kavoor Police Station, police said.
