Mangaluru: Police arrest nine students for alleged ragging

Mangaluru: Police arrested nine students of a private college in the city for the alleged ragging of a first-year student of the college.

The arrested are second and third year B-Pharma students of the private college in the city and have been identified as Jishnu, Shrikantha P.V, Ashwanth, Sayanth, Abhirath Rajiv, Rahul P, Jishnu, Mukhtay Ali, Mohammed Razeem.

The accused, hailing from Kerala had allegedly been continously ragging the first-year student of the college since the last five days.

A case has been booked against them under relevant IPC sections and Karnataka Education Act.

Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar directed college authorities to be vigilant and take actions to prevent such incidents of ragging.
