Ullal: Police have imposed fines running into thousands of rupees for a two-wheeler parked in front of a medical store in Mudipu Junction, alleged its owner.
The owner, Shrimati, claimed the two-wheeler was parked in front of Sanjeevani Ayurveda Medical store in Ganesh Complex in Mudipu has received a demand for Rs 9,000 as parking fines. Shrimati, who is also the owner of the medical store, alleged that Naguri Traffic Police had singled out her vehicle for imposing the fine. None of the other vehicles parked got the ticket, she said.
Shrimati said she came to know about the fines due when the traffic police flagged down her scooter early last year. She was shocked to find that the vehicle had Rs 5,000 outstanding dues for parking in a “No Parking Zone.” Astonishingly, no notice for the fines imposed had been received until then, she said.
After that traffic stop, she alleges, the police department started sending one or two notices to her demanding for Rs 500 to Rs 1000 fines due. So far she has received 16 such notices. All of them are on public display at the Medical shop, as a way of protest, for everyone to see.
