Mangaluru: In an effort to make it easier for the public to locate their lost mobile phones, Mangaluru police have launched a new helpline. The helpline will be accessible through WhatsApp and will allow people to directly provide information about their lost devices to the police.

The CEIR portal, which is already in operation in Mangaluru for tracing lost mobiles, has been successful in helping to locate over 200 missing devices in the city. To further improve the efficiency of the system, the WhatsApp number service has been introduced.

If you have lost your mobile phone, you can send a message to the helpline on WhatsApp by typing “hi” and sending it to 8277949183. The police will then send you a link and provide instructions on how to upload your information to the CEIR portal.

Mangaluru Police Commissioner, Kuldeep Kumar R. Jain, said that the IMEI number of the lost mobile phone is required to facilitate the search process.

With the new helpline in place, the police hope to make it easier for people to report their missing devices and improve the chances of recovering them.
