Mangaluru: Police nab 4 for home burglary at Attavar

Police apprehended 4 suspects in a burglary in the city within a mere three hours of the incident being reported. Police also recovered the stolen goods and cash from the accused.
Mangaluru South Police received a complaint about a theft taking place at 2 apartments in the Brijesh Apartment building near KMC Hospital at Attavar on Thursday, June 15.
Later that evening, four persons were found behaving suspiciously near Panambur Beach. They were detained and brought to Mangaluru South Police Station. Subsequent interrogations revealed their involvement in breaking into two residences within Brijesh Apartment and that they were planning to flee to Delhi, police said.
The detainees were identified as Mohammad Ashif alias Ashif (23) and Sheikh Maidul (25) from Delhi, as well as Rafiq Khan (24) from West Bengal and Vakil Ahmed (34) from Delhi.
Stolen gold jewelry and cash, and tools used in the crime, including cutters, screwdrivers, and a sharp iron rod. Additionally, seven mobile phones were seized from the accused, police added.
Further investigation has revealed that the accused specifically targeted locked houses and apartments without CCTV camera surveillance between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
Mangaluru South police have registered a case.
