Panambur: A police Sub-Inspector Umesh Kumar from Panambur paid for an unemployed senior woman’s journey.
Vijayalakshmi, 59, originally from Chikmagalur, was a lecturer at a northern Indian school. Due to the lockdown, she was sent to her hometown. Since there was no one in Chikmagalur, she came to Dharmasthala and came to Mangaluru from there.
When she asked for a job at the KSRTC bus stand in Mangaluru, she was sent to Baikampadi. When she could not find a job at Baikampadi, the locals informed the police control room.
SI Umesh Kumar and another constable rushed to the spot and inquired. Vijayalakshmi asked Umesh to send her back to Dharmasthala. He left her at the bus station and paid the bus fare for her journey to Dharmasthala.
