Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District Bus Owners’ Association has decided not to start bus services till next month.
President of the Association Dilraj Alva explained that all the buses were parked for two months and are hence in need of maintenance and repairs.
He added that if they start their services on June 23 then they will have to pay taxes for the whole month and with the rise in diesel prices and the 50 per cent passenger capacity rule they cannot afford it.
The Dakshina Kannada district administration issued revised guidelines for bus operation after the State government further relaxed lockdown in the district.
The guidelines state that buses can operate on weekdays from 7 am to 1 pm.
