Mangaluru: Private buses in Dakshina Kannada district have temporarily decided not to charge the 20 percent hike in bus fare to commuters.

Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra, who also happens to be the chairman of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) held a meeting with the bus owners on the issue of the proposed bus fare hike and they have decided not to levy the proposed 20 percent hike until the next RTA meeting, that is likely to be held next week.

It must be noted that when private buses resumed service on July 1 after easing of lockdown restrictions, they had hiked bus fare by 20 percent as buses were allowed to carry limited passengers
