Mangaluru: Advocate Abdul Majeed, the State vice-president of the Social Democratic Party of India, has alleged that private hospitals have begun a racket after the government approved COVID-19 treatment in them.

Speaking at the city’s Press Club he stated that COVID-19 cases are increasing every day. Because of this people are worried. Taking advantage of this, private hospitals are claiming about Rs 4,500 for COVID-19 testing and Rs 8,000 for PPE kits.

In the Dakshina Kannada district, there have been many complaints about this in the past one week. The rush in cases in private hospitals for lab tests has raised many doubts. Even when someone goes to a private hospital for treatment for foot pain, pregnancy test or any minor ailment they are being forced for a COVID-19 test. If the test reports negative in the morning then by evening the reports turn positive, he alleged.
