Mangaluru ranks 20th in Ease of Living Index

New Delhi: Mangaluru city has bagged the 20th spot in the Ease of Living Index (EOLI) and 42nd rank in the Municipal Performance Index (MPI) in the category of cities with a ‘population less than million’.

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri released the results of the EOLI and MPI on Thursday, February 4.

A total of 111 cities participated in the assessment exercise that was conducted in 2020. The first edition of the index was launched in 2018.

Meanwhile, state capital Bengaluru emerged as the top performer in the Million+ category in final rankings of Ease of Living Index (EoLI) 2020 and the Municipal Performance Index (MPI) 2020.

In the Ease of Living Index, the cities are ranked on the basis of 15 evaluation criteria, including governance, identity and culture, education, health, safety and security, economy, affordable housing, land use planning, public open spaces, transportation and mobility, assured water supply, waste-water management, solid waste management, power, and quality of the environment.
