Annual Feast and Thanksgiving Mass Held at Urwa Pompei Shrine

Mangaluru: Repentance for sins paves the way for good conduct. With God’s guidance, it is possible to emerge from the abyss of sin and embrace humility, said Mangalore Diocese Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha.

Delivering a sermon during the Thanksgiving Mass at the annual feast of the Our Lady of Pompei Shrine at Urwa on Sunday, the Bishop emphasized the transformative power of prayer. He highlighted Bartolo Longo’s efforts in spreading devotion to Our Lady of Pompeii in Italy and urged devotees to overcome inner struggles through continuous prayer and lead a life of brotherhood.

Fr. Vijay Machado, Director of Mangala Jyothi, officiated the special Mass. Other participants included Fr. Benjamin Pinto, Parish Priest of Urwa Church; Fr. Daniel Sampath Vegas, Parish Priest of St. Dominic Church, Ashok Nagar; Fr. Henry Sequeira of Urwa Church; and Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Lanson Pinto, along with over 60 clergy members from neighboring parishes. Thousands of devotees took part in the Mass.

After the service, a grand procession of the Blessed Sacrament passed through Urwa Market, Gandhinagar, Mannagudda, and Ladyhill before returning to the shrine. Thousands of devotees received blessings during the event.
