Mangaluru: Restrictions relaxed in DK; Liquor shops to reopen on Aug 5

Mangaluru: After week-long restrictions imposed in Dakshina Kannada district in the backdrop of back-to-back killings, Deputy Commissioner Dr KV Rajendra on Thursday permitted shops and other establishments to be open till 9 pm for the next three days from August 5 onwards.

However, liquor shops are allowed to remain open till 6pm from August 5 and other restrictions imposed under CrPC 144 has been extended till 6 am on Aug 8.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar has urged people to extend their cooperation and maintain law and order.

Earlier this day ADGP Alok Kumar ordered the officials to continue surveillance at the Karnataka-Kerala border.

He was speaking to the reporters after a meeting with DK, Udupi District Police officials at the Mangalore Commissioner’s office on Thursday.
