Mangaluru: Sea at Sasihithlu beach recedes; locals still in fear

Haleangadi: The beach at Sasihithlu, which had swelled and crossed the shoreline on Saturday as a result of Cyclone Tauktae, was fairly calm on Sunday morning, but locals are worried about a sudden change in the weather.
The seawater had entered into many houses near the beach on Saturday.
MLA Umanath Kotian visited the area and instructed the residents of about 72 houses near the beach to leave for NITK, but many residents refused to leave their house.
Finally, Kotian managed to convince residents of seven high-risk houses to take shelter at the Sri Bhagavathi Kshetra in Sasihithlu where they were provided with food.
