Mangaluru: Security tightened for Ayodhya Temple inauguration

Mangaluru: On the occasion of the inauguration of the Sri Rama Temple and the installation of the Sri Ram Idol at Ayodhya, comprehensive security measures have been implemented in Mangaluru City to ensure the prevention of any untoward incidents.

In the interest of public safety and to maintain law and order, the Mangaluru City Police Commisionerate has undertaken the following precautionary steps:

Identification of Pooja Venues: A total of 196 places within Mangaluru City Police Commisionerate limits, where poojas and religious functions are planned, have been identified.

Deployment at Sensitive Points: Officers and staff have been deployed at 131 sensitive places/picketing points within the city limits, operating both during the day and night.

Mobile Surveillance: 57 vehicles (sector mobiles) have been assigned to continuously patrol the city, promptly responding to any events.

Checkpoints: Checkpoints have been established at 14 locations to ensure monitoring and control.

Quick Response Teams: Nine CAR parties and three KSRP platoons have been deployed as striking parties to handle exigencies.

Special Rounds: Special rounds during early morning and late-night hours have been scheduled.

Anti Sabotage Checks: At important locations within the city with large gatherings, Anti Sabotage Checks will be conducted.

Procession Restrictions: No permissions have been granted for any kind of procession or rally, aligning with practices elsewhere in the state.

Peace Committee Meetings: Peace Committee meetings have been conducted at all Police Stations, led by respective ACPs.

Confidence-Building Measures: Area Domination Exercises and Route Marches are being conducted at various locations within the city to instill public confidence.

Banner Surveillance: Strict monitoring of banners and flexes in coordination with Municipal authorities, with organizers instructed to ensure the safety of their respective displays.

Closure of Bars and Wine Shops: A proposal has been submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada district, for the closure of bars and wine shops on the 21st and 22nd, following directives from the DC’s office.

Personnel Deployment: A total of 03 DCPs, 06 ACPs, 11 PIs, 37 PSIs, and 781 police personnel of various ranks have been deployed to manage the security arrangements.

The comprehensive bandobast aims to ensure the smooth conduct of religious events and maintain public safety during this significant occasion.
