Mangaluru: Seven achievers honored with Vishwa Konkani Award

Mangaluru: Professor Jayraj Amin, acting Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University, stated that Konkani-speaking communities have contributed immensely to society and the country. Konkani is universal and community service cannot be ignored, he noted.
He was speaking at the Vishwa Konkani Samaroh and Vishwa Konkani Puraskar award ceremony at the Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation Vishwa Konkani Center in Shaktinagar on Sunday.
The Konkani-speaking community is making an unparalleled contribution to various fields, including art, literature, and industry. He praised the work of the World Konkani Center in bringing all communities together.
During the ceremony, awards were presented to the winners.
Ramanand Raikar,R S Bhaskar and Dr Prakash Parinekarwon the Vimala V Pai Sahitya Puraskar award. Shakuntala Ajit Bhandarkar and Joseph Crasta were awarded the Basti Vaman Shenoy Seva Puraskar. Srinivas Rao (Kasargod Chinna), and Ramesh Laad were conferred the Dr P Dayananda Pai Vishwa Konkani Puraskar.
President World Konkani Centre Nandagopal Shenoy, vice president Gilbert D’Souza, Pradeep G Pai, Dr Kiran Budkule, Jagdish Shenai, and Sneha Shenai among others were present.
