Mangaluru: Spurned ‘lover’ sexually assaults girl at Bajpe; arrested

Mangaluru:  In a shocking case, a girl was raped by a man for rejecting his ‘love proposal’. The incident happened at Bajpe near here on December 8.

Based on a complaint by the victim, police have arrested an accused named Abbubakar Siddiq (21).

As per the complaint, Siddiq and the girl were known to each other and were studying in a college in 2019. The accused had clicked photos with the victim during the farewell ceremony at the college. Siddiq pestered the girl to have a ‘love relationship’ with him and had blackmailed the girl saying that the photographs would be made viral on social media.

The accused allegedly raped the girl at her residence on December 8, soon after she reached home from work, the complaint said.
