Mangaluru: As COVID-19 vaccination for teenagers aged between 15 to 18 years kicks off today, BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the vaccination drive at the government first-grade college in Rathabeedi, Mangaluru.

Speaking during the occasion, Nalin said, ”  “India is the only nation to complete 140 crore vaccination. PM Narendra Modi called for a lockdown to protect the citizens and the entire Nation joined in the fight against Covid-19. Congress did nothing during the 1st and second waves. They only criticized and misled the people by spreading fake rumours.”

He further said,” Congress is playing dirty politics by planning to hold a rally to address the Mekedatu issue. Why did they not do anything about it when they were in power? We will implement the Mekedatu project. Congress is holding the rally to further spread the Covid-19 virus and the party will be held responsible if the cases rise.”

MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Mayor Premananda Shetty, Corporator Mrs Zeenat, DC KV Rajendra and others were present.

The Karnataka government has kick-started the mega Covid-19 vaccination drive for about 31.75 lakh beneficiaries. The Covid vaccination drive will be conducted in as many as 4,160 vaccination centers across the state.

The government is utilising the stock of 16 lakh doses of Covaxin vaccines as the second dose could be administered in another 28 days.

The children can enroll in the CoWin portal or they could get vaccinated by giving an Aadhaar card or school identity card. Separate arrangements are made to identify and vaccinate those who are not in the stream of education.
