Mangaluru: Following a violent clash between students in the Gujjarakere area on Thursday, locals on Friday held a protest and demanded the students to vacate the hostel.
Locals alleged that the students create nuisance every day by screaming and teasing the residents. It is said that the students also threw crackers at their neighbors’ houses during Deepavali and roam semi-naked in the area.
Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar visited the spot and the locals urged him to vacate the students as after the last night’s incident they do not want those students to stay in their locality.
A quarrel between two groups of students turned violent in the Gujjarakere area under Mangaluru South Police Station here on December 2. Several students and police were injured in the rioting.
The police sources said personal enmity is suspected to be the reason for the violent quarrel.
