Mangaluru: ‘Suicide’ case turns out to be murder; Five arrested

Mangaluru: In a twist to a suicide case of a 36-year-old man in Amparu on October 19, police officials have now booked five including the wife of the victim.
The deceased have been identified as Nagaraj (36), resident of Vivek Nagara, Modubage in Amparu village.
He was murdered by his wife Mamatha (34), and her acquaintances, Kumar and Dinakar. Two minors were also said to be involved in the murder.
It is said that his wife had filed a complaint claiming that her husband had hanged himself. She claimed that he was heavily addicted to liquor and had become frustrated with his life.
But Nagaratna, sister of the deceased expressed suspicion of foul play as they noticed injury marks on his body. She then filed a complaint at the police station stating that her brother was murdered.
Police have arrested five in connection with the case and further investigations are underway.
