Mangaluru: Tenant files police complaint alleging rental fraud of Rs 1.14 crore

Mangaluru: A tenant lodged a police complaint alleging that he was swindled of Rs 1.14 crore using a fraudulent rental agreement.
Rithesh B N registered a complaint at the Barke police station naming the accused to be Ram Mohan Rai.
According to the complaint, Rithesh who had founded the institution named Mahesh Foundation in 2020-21, had entered into an agreement with Ramesh Rai to rent an office premise in the Global Multispecialty Hospital building located in Matadakani in Mangaluru. The agreement stipulated a monthly rent of Rs 1o lakhs and a security deposit of 40 lakhs.
According to the complainant, Ram Rai had made an illegal rent agreement claiming ownership of the premises knowing full well that he was not the owner. However, it was discovered that the true ownership vested with Dr. Sushil Jattanna and Sudharam Rai.
The complainant further added that the fraudulent agreement was done with the intention of deceit and fraud. Rithesh claimed Ram Rai has duped a total of Rs 1.14 crore including the rent and security deposit paid to him.
