Mangaluru: The image of Mangluru as we know it today will be transformed by 2025, said Mangaluru City South MLA Vedavyas Kamath.
He said that he was aware that the people are facing hardships due to the developmental works underway in the city. Simultaneous execution of projects under the Smart City, GAIL Gas, Jal Siri, etc. has created certain issues. But he said the hardships were a temporary phase. “We will have transformed the city beyond anyone’s expectations,” he said and sought cooperation from the public for the greater cause of Mangaluru.
Kamath made this promise while participating in the “Shasakara Jote Matukathe” (Talks with Legislators) series held at the “Udayavani” Mangaluru office on Saturday.
The MLA praised the patience shown by the citizens so far. The works must proceed as planned as the grant could be withdrawn at the expiry of the time limit. All works are being done to change Mangaluru for the better, he added.
He also said that an expert team will submit a report to the central government after conducting research on the requirements of the city from all dimensions including tourism, banking, medicine, education, sports etc. The team comprising central government representatives, NGOs, and other experts will carry out studies and research for comprehensive improvement in the city and it is expected to operate in Mangaluru for the first time in the state.
This team of experts needs 1 acre of land for building its office and undertaking research work, he said, and added that this will help in the overall development of Mangaluru.
Vedavyas Kamath also shared his future plans for the development of Mangaluru, such as zoning of schools, measures for reducing road congestion, and orderly development of basic infrastructure.
MLA Kamath was honored on behalf of Udayavani on the occasion.
