Mangaluru: Traffic fines can now be paid via UPI

Mangaluru: Traffic fines can now be paid digitally using UPI platforms like Google Pay and PhonePe. This system, introduced across the state, allows payments by scanning devices held by police. Previously, fines could only be paid in cash said ACP Najma Farooqui.

The system is in its early stages, with new devices provided to officers, technical delays are being addressed to ensure smooth implementation she added.

Additionally, a virtual notice system for drunk driving cases has been introduced, enabling quick notice issuance and UPI-based fine payments within hours.

The initiative is also being implemented in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
