Mangaluru: The 2nd Additional District and Sessions Court in the city has acquitted to accused in an attempt to murder case.
Judge Preeti KP held the accused Edward Mekri D’Souza and Lancy D’Souza not guilty in the 2018 attempted murder case at Paddodi in Bangra Koolur village of the city.
It was alleged that on November 5, 2018, the victim Praveen D’Souza stopped a speeding lorry on the road towards Paddodi and told the driver to slow down. The lorry driver informed its owners Edward Mekri D’Souza and Lancy D’Souza. Enraged by this, two duo had attacked Praveen D’Souza with beer bottles with the intention of murdering him, causing serious injuries, the prosecution has alleged. A case was registered at Kavoor police station in this regard.
The trial judge found that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges against the accused and acquitted them of the crime. Advocates Venu Kumar and Yuvraj K Amin argued on behalf of the defence.
