Mangaluru: Two arrested for forging property documents

Mangaluru: Police officials have arrested two people for allegedly duping an elderly woman with fake property papers in Mangaluru.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ashok Kumar (47) and Reshma Vasudev Nayak (36).
It is said that an elderly woman named Christin Edwin Joseph Gonsalves, 84, a resident of Bajpe owned 77 cents of land in Udupi. She had asked a man named Rama Poojary to help him sell the land.
The accused who got to know of this informed Rama Poojary that they are willing to buy the land. A contract was signed and they also gave him a cheque of Rs 30 lakh.
The accused then claimed that due to financial issues, they will be registering only 4o cents of land and the remaining 37 cents will be registered later. However, Kumar and Nayak submitted fake documents and created a contract paper for 77 cents of land.
The cheque issued by the accused also bounced and Christin Edwin Joseph filed a police complaint following which the accused were arrested.
