Mangaluru: Two associates of gangster Kali Yogesh arrested

Two notorious associates of gangster Kali Yogesh have been arrested, Mangaluru CCB police said on Tuesday.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Hanif @ Ali Munna (40), a resident of Paivalike Village, Kasaragod District, and Mohammad Rafiq @ Mudipu Rafiq @ Rafiq (36), a resident of Balepuni Village  Mudipu, Bantwal Taluk.

They were found in possession of illegal arms, including a pistol, a revolver, live ammunition, and narcotics. The police also seized an Innova car and other items from them.

Police said the two accused, who had been conspiring to commit a crime in Mangaluru city, were apprehended near Faneer.

A pistol, a revolver, 12 live bullets, 42 grams of MDMA, 3 mobile phones, digital weighing scales and a Innova car were seized. The total estimated value of the confiscated items is Rs 10 lakhs, police added.

CCB police said that the accused are known associates of Kali Yogish, who is currently hiding abroad. Mohammad Hanif @ Ali Munna has been involved in 14 cases, including the Sanjeeva Shetty Cloth Store shootout in Mangaluru, the Puttur Rajdhani Jewellery shootout, and the shootout at a PWD contractor’s house in Bevinkje, Kasaragod District, Kerala. Warrants are pending against him in various police stations, including Mangaluru North, Barke, Ullal, and Puttur Town.
