Mangaluru: Police shot two members of the notorious “Chaddi Gang” in their legs as they attempted to escape custody on Wednesday morning.

Police had apprehended four members of the ‘Chaddi Gang’ in Sakleshpur on Tuesday and brought them to Mangaluru. The arrested suspects were identified as Raju Singwania (24) from Guna district, Madhya Pradesh; Mayur (30) from Bhopal; Bali (22) from Guna district; and Vicky (21) also from Guna district.

The gang had committed a robbery on Tuesday and then used the victim’s car to travel to Mulki, where they abandoned the car and later boarded a bus to Bengaluru.

On Wednesday morning, police brought the suspects to the location where they had abandoned the car for a spot inspection. During the inspection, two of the suspects attacked the officers and attempted to flee. In self-defense, the police shot Raju Singwania and Bali in their legs.
