Mangaluru: Congress leader U T Khader accused the district administration of neglecting the health of the poor by not providing them with adequate medical and hospice facilities.
Speaking at a news conference along with other district Congress leaders, Khader stated that after Wenlock hospital was designated as COVID-19 hospital, the poor have nowhere to go to seek treatment.
He further stated that there is no plan as to when will Wenlock be converted back into a regular hospital.
He added that unlike Bengaluru where there are many government hospitals within the city, Mangaluru only has one government providing medical care to the poor for free. Hence, it becomes imperative that Wenlock immediately start its OPD department to mitigate the plight of the poor.
