Mangaluru, Udupi: No sand mining for two months

Mangaluru, Udupi: Sand mining will be stopped in the CRZ and non-CRZ areas of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi districts from June 1 to July 31.

On resuming from August 1, sand mining operations will be active till the end of September, as the permits for sand mining is valid till the end of that month.

Then the process for a new Bethemetric survey, identification of sand blocks and permits from the environment department will begin.

There was no shortage of sand in the twin districts due to the unavailability of workers for the sand mining boats and for construction work due to the lockdown.
