Mangaluru, Udupi: Twin districts all-set for Phase I of GP polls amid few calls of boycott

Mangaluru, Udupi: Elections officials were seen abuzz in the districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi preparing for the first phase of the gram panchayat elections to be held on tomorrow (December 22)

Mustering and de-mustering operations were conducted by the officials in all the polling booths in the twin districts.

All items required as per the COVID-19 guidelines such as face masks, face shields, gloves, sanitizers, thermal scanners for each of the staff have also been set up in the polling booths.

Amidst all of this, residents of Amasebailu gram panchayat in the Kundapura taluk has decided to boycott the elections due to the omnibus list of lack of basic facilities.

The gram panchayat includes villages of Holebagilu, Majni, Kortugundi and Dhyasa who collectively stated that due to the lack of development.
