Mangaluru: Undertrial prisoner recaptured after escaping from hospital

Mangaluru: An undertrial prisoner, who had escaped from Government Wenlock Hospital, was arrested, Pandeshwar Police said on Sunday.

The arrested individual has been identified as Naufal alias SM Naufal (32), a resident of Sajipanadu in Bantwal.

According to police, Naufal, who had been arrested in connection with a drug-related case at Dharmasthala police station, was lodged at the Magaluru District Jail. He had been admitted to the Government Wenlock Hospital after he complained of uneasiness. He fled from the hospital evading the police protection at around 5 pm on August 16.

He was arrested on Sunday and was produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody, police added.
