Mangaluru: VHP submits letter opposing payments to imams by Muzrai dept

Mangaluru: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad here has submitted a letter opposing payments to Imams by Muzrai department.

The letter was submitted to Muzrai minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.

In the letter, the VHP stated that they welcome the move by the government to provide relief payments to the priests of temples, however, are against making payments to imams from the department’s funds.

“Money collected from temples must be utilised for temples and not for mosques and madrassas,” the letter read.

Minister Poojary assured the representatives of VHP who submitted the letter to him that the decision will be withdrawn.
