Mangaluru: In the backdrop of water rationing the supply of drinking water within Mangaluru City Corporations limits, which was stopped for two days and was resumed at 6 am on Friday morning and by Saturday evening, excluding some elevated areas, most other areas were supplied with water.
Since the water level at Thumbay vented dam is falling by the day, the water rationing which was stopped temporarily in the city has been restarted.
As per the rationing, water supply will be active till 6am of May 7th. Water supply will then be stopped for 48 hours from 6 am on May 7th to 6 am May 9th. The city corporation has already published the water rationing timetable up to May 21st.
Even though the water supply began at 6 am on Friday morning, almost half of the areas in the city did not receive the water until night and people suffered the lack of drinking water. On Saturday, the situation improved and water reached most of the areas. Areas where water has been supplied is being supplied through water tankers. The water level at Thumbay dam, which stood at 4.59mt of Friday dropped to 4.54mt at 6m on Saturday.
