Essential shops, those dealing with food, groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths, fish and mutton stalls can remain open between 6am to 10am.

Immediately after the stipulated timings, shops and other establishments closed for business.

Roads are bearing a deserted look and police have set up barricades at many places in the city to oversee the curfew. Only essential services are being allowed to operate.

Police personnel presence was seen in checkpoints at Kuluru and Kottara.

City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar visited many places for review.

In one incident, a bike rider was taken to the Urwa police station by one police officer for unessential movement.
