Mangaluru: Wenlock district hospital here will reopen its outpatient department (OPD) within a week.

The hospital had stopped all OPD services after it was converted as the designated COVID-19 hospital on March 26. All patients in the hospital were shifted out to private hospitals.

It was reported that poor patients were suffering from the unavailability of the hospital’s OPD. MLA U T Khader had even accused the district administration of willful negligence of poor people’s health and had demanded immediate resumption of the hospital’s OPD.

The OPD section will be opened in a separate wing of the hospital.

The hospital will also be reopening other wards in it in phases.
