Mangaluru: A woman and her paramour were sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering the woman’s husband in 2016.
Ashwini, a resident of Kukkudakatte in Moodbidri had married Jayaraj in 2014 but had kept contact with her lover, Anand Mera, from her native village even after marriage.
When Jayaraj learnt of the affair he and Ashwini quarrelled many times.
On September 13, 2016, Ashwini and Anand murdered Jayaraj when he came to visit Ashwini at her native house.
The duo threw the dead body stuffed in a gunny bag and tied to a boulder into a well.
Later, Ashwini registered a missing complaint of Jayaraj with the police and Anand made two of his associates call Jayaraj’s mother to tell her that Jayaraj will be working with them to clear a loan he was not able to repay.
Police learnt of the whole crime after they got hold of Anand’s two associates.
