Mangaluru will not face water scarcity this summer: Mayor Diwakar

Mangaluru: Mayor Diwakar Pandeshwar on Monday said that Mangaluru will not face water scarcity this summer. He was speaking after offering Bagina as a part of Ganga pooje to river Nethravathi in Thumbe vented dam on Monday, March 9.
Mayor Diwakar said “The water impounded in the Thumbe vented dam is sufficient to meet the water needs of the residents of Mangaluru and there will be no water scarcity this summer”
He further said that “The inflow of water into Thumbe vented dam is still there and Mangaluru will not face water scarcity this time. Providing drinking water is the responsibility of the Mangluru City Corporation and we are committed to do the same. We expect the cooperation of the opposition party to fulfill the basic needs of the people, including water facility”
Opposition party leader in the MCC Abdul Ravoof said that the Congress party will extend its support to the BJP party in fulfilling the water needs of the people.
MCC joint commissioner Dr Santhosh Kumar, Chief Whip of MCC Premananda Shetty, Superintendent Engineer Ganeshan, Executive Engineer G K Muralahalli, Assitant executive engineer Naresh Shenoy, corporators Shashidhar Hegde, Lancelot Pinto, Naveen D’Souza, Poornima, Sumithra Kariya and others were present.
