Mangaluru: Woman, infant found dead at apartment in Gujjarakere

Mangaluru: A woman and her infant child were found dead under mysterious circumstances at an apartment in Gujjarakere here on the evening of Saturday, December 2.

The deceased have been identified as Fatima Rukia (23) and her son Abdulla H (4.5 months old).

According to police, the deaths are suspected to be a case of murder-suicide. Fatima reportedly suffered from post-partum depression and was under medical treatment.

On Saturday between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm, when  Fatima Rukia was alone at home with the child, she allegedly drowned the baby in a tub before ending her life, police said.

A case of unnatural deaths has been registered at Mangaluru South Police Station. Further investigations are underway.
