Mangaluru: Lakshmi Kamath has earned widespread appreciation for her bravery in capturing and safely rescuing a 9-foot-long python found near the cowshed of Balakrishna Nayak’s house in Dongerkery, Mangaluru.

The python was spotted around 9:30 PM on Tuesday near Balakrishna’s barn, causing concern among the locals who gathered at the scene. However, no one was willing to take on the task of capturing the snake.

There was fear that the snake might slither into a pile of wood nearby. At that moment, Lakshmi Kamath, a neighboring resident, courageously stepped forward and successfully captured the python. With the assistance of herpetologist Aditya, the snake was then safely placed into a sack and released into a secure location far away.

Speaking to Udayavani, Lakshmi Kamath shared that she had gained the confidence to handle snakes by observing her husband, Raghavendra, who had experience in catching them. This experience gave her the courage to take action.

The python had been spotted in the vicinity of the house for the past three years, and it was only last year that a herpetologist had captured it. This time, before the experts could arrive, Lakshmi Kamath took matters into her own hands, successfully capturing the snake, which measured approximately 9 feet in length. Balakrishna Nayak expressed his admiration for Lakshmi’s bravery in handling the situation.
