Mangaluru: Youth arrested for attempting to throw mobile phones and cigarettes into prison

Mangaluru: A youth was arrested by the police for attempting to smuggle mobile phones and cigarettes into the prison.

The arrested individual has been identified as Prajwal (21), a resident of Panjimogaru. The incident occurred around 3 PM on Sunday when the accused entered the premises of Canara College and tried to throw packages wrapped in red adhesive tape into the prison compound.

The act was noticed by KSISF personnel on patrol duty, who apprehended the accused. Upon inspection, the packages were found to contain two keypad mobile phones and two packets of cigarettes.

Prajwal was previously incarcerated in the same prison in connection with another case. A case has been registered at the Barke Police Station, and further investigations are underway.
