Manipal: A 22-year-old man has been arrested for illegally entering post-matric hostel for backward class students in Ananthnagar, Manipal, and harassing a female student, police said.
The accused has been identified as Naveen Naik (22), a resident of Shivalli village. He was arrested near Indrali Railway Station, police said.
In the early hours of September 1, an unidentified individual illegally entered a post-matric hostel for backward-class students in Ananthnagar, Manipal. The accused reportedly reached through a window and harassed a female student who was asleep near the window.
Following the incident, a case was filed at Manipal police station under Crime Number 214/2024. The case has been registered under sections 329(3) and 74 B.N.S.
Police said that the person was identified as Naveen Naik during the investigation.
Naik was booked by Udupi Town police Station for involvement in unrest at Puttur, Udupi district in 2023. The case is currently under trial, police said.
