Manipal: 4 arrested for peddling ganja

Manipal: Four individuals peddling ganja near Shimbra Bridge in Shivalli village were arrested during a raid on Sunday, November 26, Manipal police said.
The raid was conducted at 2.15 pm based on a tip-off that ganja was being peddled in a black car. A team, led by Manipal Sub-Inspector Raghavendra C launched an operation and surrounded the suspects’ vehicle, and interrogated them, police said.
The arrested accused have been identified as Abdul Latif (32) from Sastan, Mustaf Hanza Byali (35) from Koteshwar, Mohammad Ashfaq (21) from Sastan, and Shakilesha (25) from Uppoor.
They were found in possession of 274 grams of ganja. Additionally, items such as a car valued at 5 lakhs, cash amounting to Rs 19,130, and five mobile phones valued at 20,000/- were seized during the operation, police added.
Police said the accused intended to sell the narcotic substances in Manipal, aiming to turn a profit. Furthermore, ongoing investigations have unveiled a potential nexus involving students within Manipal.
A case has been registered at the Manipal police station in this regard.
