Manipal: Parents must nurture their children carefully to shape them into assets for society. Providing good values from an early age will surely lead them to achieve great heights, said Dr. Sudhakar Shetty, founder-president of the Ajekar Padma Gopal Education Trust.

Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the Chiguru Chitra– 2024 contest organized by Udayavani as part of Children’s Day celebrations, Dr. Shetty emphasized the importance of parental vigilance. “Parents must not lose focus on their children due to distractions like mobile phones. Instead, they should encourage children to pursue their interests,” he said.

He also urged parents to remain alert and guide their children away from potential missteps. Dr. Shetty highlighted the role of parental inspiration in achieving success and praised the Pai family’s vision and care, which have transformed Manipal into a hub for education and livelihood.

Recognizing Creativity and Participation

The event was presided over by T. Satish U. Pai, Executive Chairman of Manipal Media Network Ltd., who distributed prizes to the winners and wished them success.

Udayavani Editor Aravinda Navada, in his introductory speech, shared that the contest was started at a time when such concepts were unheard of in the media industry. This year, the contest received over 6,000 entries, a record number, with notable participation from rural areas.

Ramachandra Mijaru, Vice President of Udayavani’s Magazine and Special Initiatives division, anchored the event. He noted that for 54 years, Udayavani has been providing a platform for readers to participate in various contests. The Chiguru photo contest has grown over time, symbolizing the innocence and smiles of children.

Udupi District Marketing Head Radhakrishna Bhat Kodavoor announced the list of winners. Udayavani’s local editor Krishna Bhat Aladangadi welcomed the gathering, while Senior HR Manager Usharani Kamath proposed the vote of thanks.
