Manipal loses a gem: T Mohandas Pai passes away at 89

T Mohandas Pai, the eldest son of Dr. T.M.A. Pai, founder of Manipal Institutions passed away on July 31. He was 89.

T Mohandas Pai died due to age-related ailments. He is survived by his brothers Satish U Pai, Dr. T Ramdas Pai, T Narayan Pai, T Ashok Pai, and 4 sisters.

An alumnus of MGM College, T Mohandas Pai pursued studies in Law after intermediate and then grew into an entrepreneur in Manipal, with the same insights into the intricacies of finance and administration in abundance as his father.

He became a partner in many of the financial and economic ventures in Manipal like Manipal Press, Udayavani, and Industrial Credit and Development Syndicate Ltd. He had also successfully led ICDS Ltd. (later Syndicate Bank) from the dark days of a financial crisis.

‎The public will be allowed to pay their last respects to the departed soul at the new Rabindra Mantapa of MGM College, Udupi from 9 am to 11 am on August 1.‎
